JCP chosen to support the OGA in fulfilling Asset Stewardship Expectations

JCP has been chosen to work with the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) to support its work in improving asset stewardship across the UKCS in order to improve performance across the oil and gas lifecycle. The work forms part of a wider strategy from HM Treasury: Maximising the Economic Reserves of the United Kingdom (MER-UK).

JCP is contributing an implementation guide to a wider paper published by the OGA, which sets out how it will deliver responsible asset stewardship.

The Asset Stewardship Strategy has been developed by the OGA, which has also published a set of 10 Expectations which it will use to encourage enhanced stewardship.

JCP's expertise and leadership across a wide range of industries, including key projects in the oil and gas environment is the reason why the company was chosen by the OGA. JCP's proven approach to collaboration and alliancing in project strategy and implementation, has resulted in lower costs, time-saving across the life of a project and smoother transitions when contractors or key members of the team change.

"The OGA worked with JCP Consultancy Ltd. to support the development of an improved collaborative culture across UKCS Oil & Gas operations," said Gunther Newcombe, Director of Operations at the OGA.

"JCP provided excellent professional input and contributed significantly to developing guidance for the use of OGA's Collaborative Behavioural Quantification Tool (CBQT) which OGA intends to use with Operators to assess and improve collaborative behaviour."

JCP is a leader in collaboration across all sectors and is highly influential in setting good practice for this approach to complex projects. The company is a member of the Infrastructure Client Group, set up by HM Treasury to look into ways to run cost-effective public projects, and has contributed its expertise to the Alliancing Code of Practice, which is designed to help forward-thinking companies to deliver cost-effective, successful projects.

"We are delighted to be working with the OGA," commented Simon Vaughan, Director at JCP. "The UK oil and gas industry faces a range of challenges over the coming years, including developing new opportunities and successfully exploiting existing ones within licenses under the tough conditions of a mature basin, and decommissioning offshore facilities – expensive projects which need to be carried out safely and efficiently in order to reduce the burden on UK taxpayers. We are confident that our collaborative and alliancing skills will contribute significantly to the long-term success of industry projects like these."
